EFT and Social Anxiety Disorder
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. Your probably wondering how this relates to Social Anxiety. Well, let me first explain it to you.
EFT can help a person overcome fears or anxieties in a matter of minutes. At least that's what the "fanatic believers" say. EFT basically a technique that helps a person that has problems with anything, ranging from smoking to benzo withdrawal to social anxiety. What this simple technique can do is the person with a problem with, let's say social anxiety since this is what the website is about, can tap on various points of their body while thinking about their social anxiety disorder. This process can take up to three to five minutes - and you may have to "drill down" and keep tapping on the different points of the body while the problem disappears.
I found out about the EFT technique about six months ago and decided to try it over a period of a few weeks. I have to admit, after doing the EFT for that amount of time, it didn't help me a bit. However, one night after doing the technique on a certain thing I was extremely worried about (my OCD was acting up), I walked out of my office, no longer feeling worried about a particular situation. Did I quit to soon? I don't believe I did. The followers claim that even beginners can have success on their first or second time. I spent two weeks trying, and except for that particular incident where it seemed to work., I wasn't very impressed by it.
However, if you go to Youtube and type in "EFT", there are so many people claiming that this technique works. The interesting thing is they are not trying to sell it - but giving the information away for free. So it must work for some people. I imagine that you have to believe in this system - I guess my belief wasn't big enough...but I do know that when I started doing EFT, I had an open mind about it.
I will warn you though, there are a lot of companies out there trying to sell the EFT "product". Don't buy it. It's basically information that you can get for free on the internet. This is usually the case for about information. Companies will package up information that can be found for free and try to make a quick buck for it. I don't recommend you googling "EFT" to check out websites since you will see a lot of companies trying to sell an EFT package to you - but I do advise you going to youtube and type in EFT. There is enough informational videos you can watch and learn how to do this. There are a few companies that have promotional videos, but you can skip over them.
Overall, if I were you, I would give it a try. It doesn't hurt. However, my experience has been that it doesn't really work, but you may have results that are different than mine. Once again, I really think that you have to "believe" in EFT in order for it to work.
If you do find that EFT is successful, then please send me an e-mail. I will share your story (with your permission) on my blog and maybe try something that I may have missed.
