Social Anxiety Disorder - How to Overcome Trembling

Many people suffering from social anxiety usually find it hard to control the symptoms that come with the disorder. Biochemical changes affecting the nervous system and brain are responsible for various bodily reactions triggered by anxiety. Trembling is one of the common symptoms experienced by someone with social anxiety disorder. Uncontrollable shaking as a result of panic is definitely frightening.

People with social anxiety disorder are extremely conscious when it comes to social interactions thus making their body react in certain ways. Most of the time, severe discomfort in the presence of other people is the most common trigger of anxiety. There are several approaches to effectively deal with different symptoms, like trembling. Instead of doing everything to hold back your trembles, just leave it as is. It actually helps to encourage the shaking. This is because you are actually ending the pressure you are putting yourself under when you learn to completely accept and even encourage the trembles. Gradually, it would start to disappear.

When you are struggling so hard to stop anxiety, you actually end up with the opposite effect. As a matter of fact, you will just succeed in making the symptoms worse, like the case with trembling. The most efficient solution is not to fight it, but go with it. A similar approach also applies for blushing, nervous sweating and other symptoms of social anxiety disorder. You can also take therapies to know how to effectively deal with anxiety. The process takes constant practice, but in time, you will learn to accept who you are and love yourself more, which is the start of your road to recovery.

My first ten years into social anxiety, I had to put up with trembling. My neck would tense up – hence, causing my head to shake. Anytime I was scared to talk to a person, my whole body would tense and my head looked like one of those bobble heads. Very embarrassing for me – but I did overcome it by hypnosis and plain old facing my fears which I think is the best method of overcoming social anxiety.
